Day 1 of 36
FLL-CLT-IND
Flights 2 of 18
1,060 of 22,121 miles
I can hardly believe my departure is imminent for my 2009 around-the-world adventure - my third. I'm off to see my children, grandchildren, inlaws, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, and France. It is only fitting that I begin and end this trip with family.
I packed several days ago and then "unpacked" yesterday and removed a HUGE stack of unnecessary items. My bag is much lighter this year. I'm taking my new PC with me this trip so that will be a little extra weight in my carryon bag. At least my checked bag won't be over the weight limit this year!
Tim and I had a great farewell dinner last night at St. Tropez, our favorite French restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Delicious, but I still ate too much. I fly through Charlotte today and then on to Indianapolis after a short layover. We'll celebrate 3 birthdays - Lillian (now 4), Lincoln (now 37), and Lauren (will be 7 on October 3 while I'm gone. We are having the birthday dinners at the Melting Pot, their favorite.
The flights were right on time, even with both of them being US Airways! had a BBQ lunch in Charlotte. Leslie picked me up, we had a drink and then off to the Melting Pot. The girls were really good and ate pretty good (or at least Lauren did). We had a huge dinner and a really good French Piinot Noir. We got home about 10 and the girls were really tired. We all went off to bed.
A great first day.
