Day 3 of 36
Indianapolis
The third week of school (first grade) for Lauren.
The first day of school (pre-school) for Lillian.
I was up at 7 - the girls got up at 7:20 to get ready for school. Lillian was dragging!
They had breakfast. Then we "drove" to the school bus stop at the end of the driveway. Lillian sat in the front seat, and Lauren sat in my lap. She "drove" us to the end of the driveway and had a blast. I showed her how the turn signal, lights, windshield wipers and windshield wash buttons worked. Also explained R-N-and D.
The bus came about 20 minutes to 9. A little late. Lillian got in her seat in the back and Leslie and I headed off to take her to pre-school. We got caught by a long train - must have been 150 coal cars - a really long one. Lillian kept saying "We are going to be late to school"!
But we got her there in plenty of time. She found her cubby and went right off with the teacher - no drama and no tears.
Leslie did some work at home, I did email and watched the stock market ticker. Should have bought SVA (they just got approved for the H1N1 vaccine) - it was up $3.50 for the day! Oh well!
At 11:15 we headed off to get Lillian from pre-school and go to lunch. Lincoln is going to meet us too. She was waiting and smiling for us in her room. It took a while since it was the first day of school and parents picking up had to register. She had a good time she said. We took her to Wendy's for lunch and her Daddy met us there. She ate french fries and a vanilla frosty.
After lunch we went to Dunkin' Donuts for a "treat". She got a maple cake donut and she picked out a strawberry donut for Lauren for when she gets home from school.
We headed back home and Lillian played. Then she and I watched "Tinkerbell" together. I learned that Tinkerbell got her name because she is a "tinkerer"! Didn't know that.
Beautiful day. We met Lauren at the school bus about 4 and played outside for a while. Lillian and I played "Scary Roller Coaster" on the swing set. "Do it again, Grandpere!". Fun.
Lincoln fixed dinner and then we all went for a walk around the circle. I got the girls ready for bed and they went to sleep about 8:30.
We watched a little TV and then I went to sleep about 10 pm to rest up for a day of travel tomorrow half way around the world. Excited!
